Section 1-200. GENERAL PROVISIONS

    200.1The purpose of this chapter is to outline the policy for official publications.

     

    200.2The Administrative Procedure Act, Pub. L. No.90-614, (D.C. Code §§ 1-1501 et seq.) established the District of Columbia Register (referred to as the D.C. Register) as the official publication for giving notice to the public of rules and regulations as well as items of general interest.

     

    200.3In addition to rules and regulations, the following items are authorized to be published in accordance with D.C. Code § 1-1533:

     

    (a)Cumulative indexes to regulations which have been adopted, amended, or repealed;

     

    (b)Information on changes in the organization of the District government;

     

    (c)Notices of public hearings;

     

    (d)Codifications of rules and regulations; and

     

    (e)Such other matters as may from time to time be determined to be of general public interest.

     

    200.4Publication in the D.C. Register of rules adopted, amended, or repealed shall not be considered as a substitute for publication in one or more newspapers of general circulation when that publication is required.

     

    200.5All courts within the District shall take judicial notice of rules published or of which notice is given in the D.C. Register pursuant to D.C. Code § 1-1505(b).

     

    200.6Pursuant to the requirements of D.C. Law 2-153, the D.C. Register shall be published by the District of Columbia Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances.
