Section 10-B2202. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RELOCATION OFFICE

    2202.1The Relocation Office shall provide services which may be necessary or appropriate in order to do the following:

     

    (a)Determine the need, if any, of displaced persons and of persons displaced by local code enforcement for relocation assistance;

     

    (b)Provide for displaced persons and for those displaced by local code enforcement current and continuing information on the availability, prices, and rentals of comparable decent, safe, and sanitary housing including units available for sales or rent, and of comparable commercial properties and locations for displaced businesses;

     

    (c)Assist a person displaced from his or her place of business in obtaining and becoming established in a suitable replacement location;

     

    (d)Supply information concerning federal and District housing, loan, and other programs offering assistance to displaced persons and to those displaced by local code enforcement;

     

    (e)Provide other advisory services to displaced persons and to those displaced by local code enforcement in order to minimize hardships and inconvenience to those persons in adjusting to relocation; and

     

    (f)Provide relocation services and assistance to eligible persons, including notifying and informing site occupants of the necessity and reason for their displacement, and by referring individuals and families to appropriate public and private agencies for needed social and welfare services.

     

    2202.2Upon notification by the Mayor that it is appropriate to do so, the Relocation Office shall provide persons occupying property to be acquired by the District a written statement informing the occupants that the property may be acquired, and shall advise them of the availability of relocation services and assistance, and of the availability of a copy of this chapter.

     

    2202.3Owners of occupied properties shall also be furnished the information statements required by §2202.2 by the District.

     

    2202.4Written statements shall be provided to persons displaced by local code enforcement informing them of the availability of relocation services and assistance and of a copy of this chapter.

     

    2202.5In the case of Federal-aid highway projects, a notice in lieu of the statement required in §2202.2 shall be furnished in accordance with the requirements of section II of the Federal Highway Administration Instructional Memorandum, No. 80-1-71, dated April 30, 1971, and any subsequent amendments to that memorandum.
