Section 10-B2799. INTERPRETATION AND DEFINITIONS

    2799.1For the purposes of this section certain terms and words are defined in this chapter, but the definitions shall not be held to modify or affect in any way the meaning of the terms or words where used in other regulations of this title.

     

    2799.2For the purposes of this section, the word "lot" includes the word "parcel"; the word "square" includes the word "block"; and the word "person" includes a corporation, as well as an individual.

     

    2799.3When used in this chapter, the following terms and phrases shall have the meanings ascribed:

     

    Lot - the land bounded by definite lines, including but not limited to, plot, tract or parcel. Lot, Alley - a lot facing or abutting an alley and at no point facing or abutting a street.

     

    Lot of Record - a lot platted and recorded on the records of the Surveyor, in accordance with the Act and the regulations promulgated pursuant thereto.

     

    Mayor - the Mayor of the District of Columbia.

     

    Plot - an area of ground.

     

    Public Alley - a public way designated as an alley on the records of the Surveyor of the District of Columbia.

     

    Record Plat - a plat showing lots, streets, public alleys, etc., recorded in the Office of the Surveyor.

     

    Street - a public highway designated as a street, avenue, lane, terrace, road, etc., on the records of the Surveyor.

     

    Subdivision - is the division or assembly of land into one or more lots of record. Surveyor - an official designated to head the Office of the Surveyor.

     

    Zoning District - the zoning classification of various areas.

     

    Zoning Regulations - regulations promulgated by authority of the Zoning
