Section 18-609. INSPECTION OF NON-REGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLES

    609.1Inspection of non-registered motor vehicles for which no fee shall be charged shall be limited to the following purposes:

     

    (a)Verification of identification numbers when required under this section, unless verification can be made as provided in § 401.15; and

     

    (b)Cases in which the safe mechanical condition of a vehicle is questioned by the police or other authority.

     

    609.2Except as provided in § 609.1, any motor vehicle not registered in the District of Columbia that is inspected shall pay inspection fees in accordance with §§ 601.16 and 601.17.

     

    609.3Fees for the inspection of a motor vehicle that is not registered in the District shall be paid at the time of the inspection.
