Section 22-B1603. PLACEMENT PROCESS

    1603.1The Administration shall make referrals to appropriate facilities in order to identify a facility that will accept the mentally retarded person who is in need of respite care services.

     

    1603.2Prior to the placement of the mentally retarded person into a respite care arrangement, the Administration staff shall meet with the mentally retarded person, his or her primary caregiver, and the proposed provider of the respite care in order to do the following:

     

    (a)To make final arrangements for the placement; and

     

    (b)To make the arrangements for the return of the mentally retarded person to his or her home.

     

    1603.3Placement of mentally retarded persons in respite care shall be made in the least restrictive environment.

     

    1603.4Each provider of respite care shall be required to sign a contractual agreement established by the Administration which specifies the services to be rendered.
