Subsequent to the adoption of the regulations set forth in this chapter, the Office of the Chief Medical examiner was "established as a subordinate agency in the executive branch of the government of the District of Columbia." D.C. Official Code § 5-1402(a) (2001 ed.). The functions assigned and authority delegated to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner previously established by Commissioner’s Order 71-16 were expressly transferred to the newly established office. D.C. Official Code § 5-1416 (2001 ed.). Per Final Rulemaking published at 52 DCR 8922 (October 7, 2005), Chapter 24 (Medical Examiner) was repealed in its entirety and new rules were published at Title 28, Chapter 50 (Medical Examiner).
