Section 25-F400. DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION - TANNING EQUIPMENT AND DEVICES*

400.1The licensee shall use only tanning equipment and devices that comply with these regulations.
400.2Tanning equipment and devices shall meet the National Fire Protection Association National Electrical Code and shall be provided with ground fault protection on the electrical circuit, or other methods for preventing shock.
400.3Every tanning device used by a tanning facility shall comply with all applicable District and Federal laws and regulations, including those promulgated by the Federal Trade Commission and the United States Food and Drug Administration.
400.4Each assembly of tanning equipment or devices shall be provided with an emergency shut-off mechanism on the tanning equipment or device to allow the consumer to manually terminate radiation emission from the equipment or device at any time without disconnecting the electrical plug or removing any ultraviolet lamp.
400.5Each assembly of tanning equipment or devices shall be designed for use by only one (1) consumer at a time.
400.6All tanning equipment or devices shall include physical barriers to protect consumers from injury induced by touching or breaking the lamps.
400.7There shall be physical barriers around each tanning equipment or device which is in use to protect persons who are not using the device from line-of-sight accidental ultraviolet radiation exposure.
