Section 26-A1700. GENERAL PROVISIONS

    1700.1The Bureau shall be administered by a Governing Committee and Manager, in accordance with the Act and this title.

     

    1700.2The Bureau shall come into existence on the effective date of these rules, and shall be responsible for claims arising from accidents occurring on or after June 2, 1986.

     

    1700.3The principal office of the Bureau shall be located in the District of Columbia.

     

    1700.4Every insurer authorized to sell motor vehicle insurance and every Self-Insurer, except for the District of Columbia Government, the United States Government, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, providing motor vehicle insurance in the District as required by the Act, shall be members of the Bureau.

     

    1700.5The membership of any member of the Bureau shall terminate when the member no longer provides motor vehicle insurance as required by the Act.

     

    1700.6Any member who has been terminated shall continue to be subject to an governed by this chapter in order to complete all obligations incurred during its term of membership, with respect to assessments, losses, expenses, contracts, or any activities required under the Act or this chapter.

     

    1700.7The Administration Fund Bureau, hereinafter "The Bureau", shall be an unincorporated non-profit association.
