Section 29-355. CHILD DEVELOPMENT HOME OUTDOOR SPACE, EQUIPMENT, AND SAFETY

    355.1In the absence of suitable outdoor space on the premises of the Child Development Home, such as a fenced yard, the Caregiver shall ensure that all enrolled children are given regular opportunities for safe play at one or more nearby parks or playgrounds.

     

    355.2Each outdoor play area in use by one or more enrolled children shall be visible to the Caregiver or other approved Facility staff at all times.

     

    355.3The Caregiver or other approved Facility staff shall supervise all children during all periods of outdoor play.

     

    355.4Each Child Development Home shall ensure that all outdoor play areas and equipment on the Facility premises are maintained in compliance with the applicable safety requirements of this Chapter, and that all play equipment conforms to the standards established by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and by the American Society for Testing and Materials.

     

    355.5If one or more enrolled children swim in a pool, lake or river while under the care of a Child Development Home, the Facility must adhere to the adult/child ratio requirements contained in section 343 of this Chapter, and to the requirements contained in section 368 of this Chapter concerning "Swimming and Water Safety."
