    1010.1It is the policy of the Board of Education that employees shall be hired, assigned, transferred, promoted, retained, and disciplined without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, religion, creed, age, marital status, personal physical appearance, sexual orientation or preference, family responsibilities, physical handicap, source of income, matriculation, political affiliation, citizenship status, place of residence or business, or membership or non-membership in an employee organization, except as authorized by law or court order.

     

    1010.2Each manager and supervisor employed by the Board of Education shall be responsible and accountable for ensuring that this policy is carried out and that adequate steps are taken to eliminate any practice or policy that results in unlawful discrimination.

     

    1010.3The Superintendent shall be responsible for ensuring that adequate resources are provided for the positive and effective administration of the Equal Employment Opportunity Program.

     

    1010.4The policy shall be carried out in conformance with the Affirmative Action Plan in the District Government Employment Act, D.C. Law 1-63, as amended, the Human Rights Act of 1977, D.C. Law 2-38, the implementing directives of the Superintendent as administered by the Equal Employment Officer, and Title VII of D.C. Law 2-139.
