Chapter 6-A3. OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT |
Section 6-A302. PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING AUTHORIZATION FOR OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT

302.1Any member desiring to engage in outside employment shall notify the Department of that intention by submitting appropriate documents, in quadruplicate, to the member's respective Commanding Officer prior to accepting that employment.
302.2Members shall not engage in outside employment until authorization to do so has been granted by the Chief of Police, or his or her designee, the Administrative Services Officer, as appropriate.
302.3Any dispute concerning whether a particular employment creates a conflict of interest shall be determined by negotiated grievance procedures in accordance with the operative contract organization, ending in binding arbitration.
302.4In the absence of procedures as outlined in §302.3, the Chief of Police shall be the final authority for resolving any dispute concerning whether a particular outside employment creates a conflict of interest.
302.5Any violation(s) of the provisions of these rules may serve as the basis for a temporary or indefinite suspension, or total termination, of the offending member's privilege to participate in outside employment.
