Section 8-A116. STUDENT MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

    116.1In accordance with D.C. Code, §31-1543(c)(2), the student member of the Board of Governors shall be elected each year by secret ballot vote of the student body.

     

    116.2The election of the student member of the Board shall be held within sixty (60) days prior to the date of commencement each year. The law student elected in the Spring of each year shall serve in accordance with D.C. Code, §31-1543(g) for the following school year.

     

    116.3All first and second year law students in good standing shall be eligible to be nominated for the office of student member of the Board.

     

    116.4Procedures for the election of the student member of the Board shall be established by the student government organization (or in the absence of a student government organization, the Dean with the advice of a panel of students appointed by the Dean) and shall be approved by the Dean.

     

    116.5The Dean shall certify the results of the annual election of the student member of the Board and report those results to the Board at the meeting of the Board next following the election of the student member.

     

    116.6The student member of the Board shall be accorded all of the rights, privileges, and responsibilities accorded to other members of the Board of Governors.

     

    116.7A vacancy in the office of student member of the Board caused by the death, resignation, or removal of the student member, or failure of the student member to maintain the status of a full-time student in accordance with D.C. Code, §31-1545(c), shall be filled by special election in accordance with procedures approved by the Dean.
