Section 8-B1524. FACULTY TERMINATION HEARINGS

1524.1The hearing committee shall establish a date for the hearing to begin at the earliest time consistent with good practice and the requests of the faculty member and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
1524.2The hearing shall be closed unless both the committee and the faculty. member agree that it will be open.
1524.3If any matters of fact are in dispute, the testimony of witnesses and other evidence shall be considered. The hearing committee shall determine what it will hear as evidence.
1524.4The Vice President for Academic Affairs, or a designee, shall participate in the hearing, but the committee shall conduct the hearings.
1524.5The committee shall make certain that all guarantees of due process to the faculty member are fulfilled.
1524.6If unusual or urgent reasons prevent the appearance of a witness, the identity of the witness and any statements made by the witness shall be disclosed to the faculty member.
1524.7The faculty member and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, or their designees or representatives, may present oral and written statements.
1524.8The committee shall arrive at its decision in conference on the basis of the hearing. The committee may reach its recommendation prior to the preparation of a transcript.
1524.9The committee shall prepare a report that includes clear and explicit written findings of fact for each of the charges. The committee shall provide the faculty member and the Vice President for Academic Affairs with its report and recommendation.
