Section 8-B1603. FORMAL GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES: STEP 1

    1603.1To begin formal grievance procedures at Step 1, the employee shall present the grievance in writing to his or her immediate supervisor. The grievance shall state the relief sought by the employee.

     

    1603.2The supervisor shall document receipt of the grievance, conduct informal discussions with the employee, and advise the employee in writing of the decision within ten (10) days following receipt.

     

    1603.3If the supervisor does not grant the relief sought by the employee, or lacks authority to grant the relief sought, the supervisor shall advise the employee in writing, stating the basis for the decision and inform the employee of the right to carry the grievance to the Step 2 level within five (5) days from the date of receipt of the notification.
