    On Wednesday, February 4, 2015, Councilmember Mary M. Cheh, Chairperson of the Committee on the Transportation and the Environment, will hold a public oversight roundtable on the results of DDOT’s Comprehensive Assessment on Streetcar Propulsion Technology. The roundtable will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. 

     

    The purpose of the roundtable is to review the results and recommendations of DDOT’s Comprehensive Assessment on Streetcar Propulsion Technology, available at http://www.dcstreetcar.com/about/resources/studiesreports/. The completion of this report and a subsequent oversight hearing is required by Section 5 of the Transportation Infrastructure Amendment Act (TIAA), D.C. Law 18-339, codified in Title 9, Section 1174 of the D.C. Code. DDOT completed and released the report in July of 2014. The report identifies advances in propulsion technology, discusses the feasibility of converting to non-areal motive power in areas where overhead wires have been installed or are planned for the streetcar, and recommends amendments to the TIAA.

     

    The Committee invites the public to testify or to submit written testimony, which will be made a part of the official Hearing Record. Persons representing organizations will have five minutes to present their testimony.  Individuals will have three minutes to present their testimony. Witnesses should bring 8 copies of their written testimony and should submit a copy of their testimony electronically to agutbezahl@dccouncil.us.
