Chairman Phil Mendelson announces the scheduling of a public roundtable on PR 19-992, Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Commission (MVTPC) Jacque Patterson Confirmation Resolution of 2012; PR 19-993, MVTPC Andrew Fois Confirmation Resolution of 2012; PR 19-994, MVTPC John DeRose Confirmation Resolution of 2012; PR 19-995, MVTPC Mohammad Momen Confirmation Resolution of 2012; PR 19-996, MVTPC Larry Hinton Confirmation Resolution of 2012; and PR 19-1011, MVTPC Lawrence A. Richardson, Jr. Confirmation Resolution of 2012. The hearing will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in Hearing Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building. This hearing notice has been revised to reflect a new date and time.
The stated purpose of PRs 19-992, 19-993, 19-994, 19-995,19-996, and 19-1011 is to confirm the appointment of Jacque Patterson, Andrew Fois, John DeRose, Mohammad Momen, Larry Hinton, and Larence A. Richardson, Jr., respectively, to the MVTPC. The purpose of the MVTPC is to improve and support motor vehicle theft law enforcement, prosecution, prevention, and community-education programs to reduce the incidence of motor vehicle theft in the District. The purpose of this hearing is to receive testimony from government and public witnesses as to the fitness of these nominees for the Commission.
Those who wish to testify should contact Ms. Jessica Jacobs, Legislative Counsel, at (202) 724-7808, by fax at (202) 724-6664, or via e-mail at jjacobs@dccouncil.us, and provide their name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any) by close of business Friday, October 19, 2012. Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony. If submitted by the close of business on Friday, October 19, 2012 the testimony will be distributed to Councilmembers before the hearing. Witnesses should limit their testimony to five minutes; less time will be allowed if there are a large number of witnesses.
If you are unable to testify at the roundtable, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. Copies of written statements should be submitted either to Ms. Jacobs, or to Ms. Nyasha Smith, Secretary to the Council, Room 5 of the Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20004. The record will close at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012.
