FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING THE FOLLOWING:
CASE NO. 09-14 (Safeway, Inc. – Consolidated PUD & Related Map Amendment @ Square 1672, Lots 803, 804, 812, and 815)
THIS CASE IS OF INTEREST TO ANC 3E
On August 11, 2009, the Office of Zoning received an application from Safeway Inc. The Applicant is requesting approval of a consolidated planned unit development and related map amendment at 4203 Davenport Street, N.W. for the construction of a new commercial building to be occupied by a grocery store and accessory uses. The Office of Planning provided its report on October 9, 2009, and the case was set down for hearing on October 19, 2009. The Applicant provided its prehearing statement on October 23, 2009.
The property that is the subject of this application consists of approximately 108,000 square feet of land area and is located at 4203 Davenport Street, N.W. (Square 1672, Lots 803, 804, 812, and 0815). The subject property is mapped within three zone districts: C-2-A along the eastern portion which contains an existing Safeway store, an R-2 zone on the west which contains an existing surface parking lot and an undeveloped R-3 area at the northwest corner of the site.
The proposed PUD-related map amendment would change the zoning on the R-2 and R-3 portions of the lots to C-1. The C-2-A zoning on Lot 815 would remain.
This public hearing will be conducted in accordance with the contested case provisions of the Zoning Regulations, 11 DCMR § 3022.
