            Councilmember Vincent B. Orange, Sr., Chair of the Committee on Small and Local Business Development announced a public hearing on B19-1044, the "Certified Business Enterprise Program Reform Amendment Act of 2012" and B19-1046, the “Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Development and Assistance Amendment Act of 2012”.  The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building.  This notice has been abbreviated to provide timely notice to the public.  It has also been revised to indicate a change in the hearing date to Tuesday, November 20, 2012 and location to Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building.

 

            B19-1044, the “Certified Business Enterprise Program Reform Amendment Act of 2012” was introduced by Chairman Phil Mendelson at the request of the Mayor.  The purpose of the bill is to redesignate the Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Enterprise Development of Assistance Act of 2005 as the Certified Business Enterprise Program Reform Amendment Act of 2012 and make numerous other changes to the Certified Business Enterprise program administered by the Department of Small and Local Business Development.  B19-1046, the “Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Development and Assistance Amendment Act of 2012” proposes to amend the Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Enterprise Development of Assistance Act of 2005 to provide for improvements in the act.

 

            The public hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.  The Committee invites the public to testify or to submit written testimony, which will be made a part of the official record.  Those who wish to testify should contact Mr. Stacey Lincoln, Administrative Assistant, at [phone] or via e-mail at [e-mail] and provide their name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any) by close of business November 16, 2012.  Persons wishing to testify are encouraged to submit 20 copies of written testimony. Representatives of organizations should limit their testimony to five (5) minutes and individuals should limit their presentation to three (3) minutes. 

 

If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.  The official record will remain open until close of business November 30, 2012.  Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee on Small and Local Business Development, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 119 of the John A.
