    Public Oversight Roundtable on the District of Columbia’s Plans and Preparations for Celebrating the 151st Anniversary Observance of Emancipation Day and Related Special Events

     

    WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2012, 10 A.M.

    Councilmember Vincent B. Orange, Sr. announces the scheduling of a public oversight roundtable by the Committee on Small and Local Business Development to review the District of Columbia government’s plans and preparations for commemorating the 151st Anniversary Observance of Emancipation Day on April 16, 2013 and related special events.

     

    The public oversight roundtable is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.  The purpose of the public oversight roundtable is to receive testimony from interested parties on the plans and preparations for celebrating the 151th Anniversary of the signing of the D.C. Compensated Emancipation Act on April 16, 1862 and related special events.

     

    Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public oversight roundtable are asked to telephone Stacey Lincoln, Administrative Assistant to the Committee on Small and Local Business Development, at (202) 727-6683, or via e-mail at slincoln@dccouncil.us and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business Friday, December 14, 2012. Each witness is requested to bring 20 copies of his/her written testimony. Representatives of organizations and government agencies will be limited to 5 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard. Individual witnesses will be limited to 3 minutes.

     

    If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.  The official record will remain open until close of business Friday, December 28, 2012.  Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee on Small and Local Business Development, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 119 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
