D.C. TAX REVISION COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
December 3, 2012

The D.C. Tax Revision Commission (the “Commission”) will hold a public hearing on Dec. 3, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in room 412 of the John A.Wilson Building at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
The Commission is asking for public input on its Research Agenda, which will guide the work and recommendations of the Commission. The current Research Agenda is available on the Commission’s website (http://www.dctaxrevisioncommission.org/). The public can access all materials and resources the Commission has considered and studied—including presentations and reports provided at previous Commission meetings—on the website’s resource page (http://www.dctaxrevisioncommission.org/#!documents/cp9p).
Those wishing to testify before the Commission on Dec. 3 should contact Ashley Lee by email at ashley.lee@dc.gov or by phone at (202) 478-9143. Public testimony will be limited to three minutes. The Commission also welcomes written testimony, which can be submitted via email to Ms. Lee or presented to Commissioners members in person on December 3rd.
The Commission was established by the Council of the District of Columbia and is charged with preparing comprehensive recommendations to the Council and the Mayor which (1) provide for fairness in apportionment of taxes; (2) broaden the tax base; (3) make the District’s tax policy more competitive with surrounding jurisdictions; (4) encourage business growth and job creation; and (5) modernize, simplify and increase transparency in the District’s tax code.
The Commission is an independent body consisting of 11 members appointed by the Mayor of the District of Columbia and the Chairman of the District of Columbia Council. The members of the Commission are distinguished experts on tax and fiscal policy from academic, legal, non-profit and business backgrounds:
· Anthony A. Williams, former Mayor of the District of Columbia and current CEO and Executive Director of the Federal City Council
· David Brunori, Research Professor of Public Policy, Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration at the George Washington University
· Catherine Collins, Interim Associate Director/Research Associate, George Washington Institute of Public Policy, George Washington University
· Mark Ein, CEO, Venturehouse Group
· Tracy Gordon, Fellow, Economic Studies, Brookings Institution
· Teresa Hinze, Executive Director, Community Tax Aid Inc.
· Ed Lazere, Executive Director, D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute
