OFFICE OF DOCUMENTS AND ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUANCES
ERRATA NOTICE
The Administrator of the Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances (ODAI), pursuant to the authority set forth in section 309 of the District of Columbia Administrative Procedure Act, approved October 21, 1968 (82 Stat. 1203; D.C. Official Code § 2-559), hereby gives notice of a correction to Section 2602, “Bicycle Infractions,” of Chapter 26, “Civil Fines for Moving and Non-Moving Infractions,” of Title 18, “Vehicles and Traffic,” of the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR). On July 28, 2006, ODAI published a Notice of Final Rulemaking at 53 DCR 6100 on behalf of the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT). The Notice of Final Rulemaking made several amendments to Title 18, including amending the civil infractions and bicycle fines in 18 DCMR § 2602.1.
During the codification process, a decimal point was omitted from the following civil infractions in 18 DCMR § 2602.1:
Hazardous Driving (§ 1201.2); and
Hitching on Vehicle (§ 1201.16).
The fine amounts for both civil infractions should have been codified as twenty-five dollars ($25.00) not two thousand five hundred dollars ($2500). The Notice of Final Rulemaking correctly stated the amounts for the bicycle fines. The public was fined the correct amount of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the respective bicycle fines.
The following infractions shall read as follows:
Hazardous Driving (§ 1201.2) $25.00
Hitching on Vehicle (§ 1201.6) $25.00
The text of 18 DCMR § 2602.1 is corrected in accordance with the intended text of the Notice of Final Rulemaking.
Any questions or comments regarding this notice shall be addressed by mail to Administrator, Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances, 441 4th Street, N.W., Suite 520 South, Washington, D.C. 20001, or via telephone at (202) 727-5090.
