    Review of Activities and Events Commemorating the 152nd Anniversary Observance of DC Emancipation Day

    Councilmember Vincent B. Orange, Sr. announces the scheduling of a public oversight roundtable by the Committee on Business, Consumer, and Regulatory Affairs to review the District of Columbia’s activities and events for commemorating the 152nd Anniversary Observance of DC Emancipation Day held on April 16, 2014.  The public oversight roundtable is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Room 123 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20004. 

     

    The purpose of the public oversight roundtable is to review the activities and events that were planned and organized to showcase the 152nd anniversary observance of the signing of the D.C. Compensated Emancipation Act on April 16, 1862.  The Committee will also review the roles of the various regulatory agencies that provided support for DC Emancipation Day activities.

     

    Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public oversight roundtable are asked to contact Ms. Faye Caldwell, Special Assistant to the Committee on Business, Consumer, and Regulatory Affairs, at (202) 727-6683, or via e-mail at fcaldwell@dccouncil.us and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Each witness is requested to bring 20 copies of his/her written testimony. Representatives of organizations and government agencies will be limited to 5 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard. Individual witnesses will be limited to 3 minutes.

     

    If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.  The official record will remain open until close of business Wednesday, May 14, 2014.  Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee on Small and Local Business Development, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite G-6 of the John A.
