Councilmember Yvette M. Alexander, Chairperson of the Committee on Health, and Councilmember Tommy Wells, Chairperson of the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety, announce a joint public hearing to be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive testimony on Bills 20-678 and 20-766.
Bill 20-678 would amend the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiatives of 1999 to increase the number of living marijuana plants medical marijuana cultivation centers can possess at any time. The bill may be viewed online at http://lims.dccouncil.us/Legislation/B20-0678. Bill 20-766 would amend the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiatives of 1999 to expand the definition of a qualifying medical condition to allow physicians to determine whether a patient would benefit from medical marijuana treatment. The Committee invites the public to testify. Witnesses should bring 15 copies of their testimony. Testimony may be limited to 3 minutes.
