    Councilmember Anita Bonds, Chairperson of the Committee on Housing and Community Development, will hold the second of two public hearings on B21-0697, the “Advisory Neighborhood Commissions Omnibus Amendment Act of 2016”. The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 10:00 AM in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building.

     

    The Advisory Neighborhood Commissions Omnibus Amendment Act of 2016 proposes a wide variety of changes to laws governing the Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANCs), including but not limited to clarifying and strengthening the requirements of agency notice and great weight, providing additional resources for Commissions to perform their legally mandated duties, and providing for additional accountability for Commissioners and Commission grantees.

     

    Where the first hearing focused on Sections 2(e), 4, and 5 of the Act, this hearing will be open for discussion on the remainder of the Act, and any other aspects of ANC policy pertaining to the Act’s subject matter.

Oral testimony should be limited to three minutes for individuals and five minutes for organizations.
