Councilmember Yvette M. Alexander, Chairperson of the Committee on Health and Human Services, announces a public hearing on Bill 21-192, the “Medical Marijuana Laboratory Testing Amendment Act of 2015" and Bill 21-210, the “Medical Marijuana Reciprocity Amendment Act of 2015.” The hearing will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building.
The purpose of Bill 21-192 is to amend the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiative of 1998 to provide for the licensure of independent medical marijuana testing facilities by the Department of Health. The purpose of Bill 21-210 is to amend the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiative of 1998 to recognize patients from states and jurisdictions with medical marijuana laws and provide access to medical marijuana in the District to those patients and to eliminate the limitation on the number of marijuana plants permitted to be grown at a cultivation center.

Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony. Witnesses should limit their testimony to four minutes; less time will be allowed if there are a large number of witnesses.
For those unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.
