NOTICE OF FINAL RULEMAKING
The Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles (Director), pursuant to the authority set forth in sections 1825 and 1826 of the Department of Motor Vehicles Establishment Act of 1998, effective March 26, 1999 (D.C. Law 12-175; D.C. Official Code §§ 50-904 and 905 (2009 Repl.)), sections 6 and 7 of the District of Columbia Traffic Act of 1925, approved March 3, 1925 (43 Stat. 1121; D.C. Official Code § 50-2201.03 (2009 Repl.)) and Mayor’s Order 2007-168, dated July 23, 2007, hereby gives notice of the adoption of the following amendment to chapter 1 (Issuance of Drivers Licenses) of title 18 (Vehicles and Traffic) of the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR) which changes the name of the fee currently known as the “learner’s permit test fee” to the “knowledge test fee”.
Notice of Emergency and Proposed Rulemaking was published in the D.C. Register on July 8, 2011, at 58 DCR 5697. No comments were received and no changes were made to the text of the proposed rule. The Department of Motor Vehicles adopted the rule as final on August 8, 2011. The final rule will become effective on the date of publication of this notice in the D.C. Register
Title 18, VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, of the DCMR is amended as follows:
Chapter 1, Issuance of Driver’s Licenses, is amended as follows:
Section 103, APPLICATION FOR A DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER’S PERMIT, subsection 103.8 (a) is amended to change the name of the “Learner’s Permit Test” to “Knowledge Test” so that the provision reads as follows:
103.8 The following fees shall apply to permit applicants:
(a) Knowledge test . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ………….. . . . . $ 10;
(b) Driver’s permit road test . . . . . ……. . . . . . . . . . . . $ 10;
(c) Driver’s permit application fee . . . . ……. . . . . . . .. $ 44;
(d) Learner’s permit application fee . . . . . . . …… . . . . $ 20;
(e) Provisional operator’s permit application fee . ….. . $ 20; and
(f) Ignition Interlock Application fee…………………. $ 50.
