    ANNOUNCES A PUBLIC Hearing ON

     

    BILL 19-883, THE "DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA PUBLIC LIBRARY HOURS EXPANSION ACT OF 2012"

     

    Thursday, October 25, 2012

    Councilmember Tommy Wells, Chairperson of the Committee on Libraries, Parks, Recreation, and Planning, will convene a public hearing on Bill 19-883, the “District of Columbia Public Library Hours Expansion Act of 2012”. The hearing will be held on Thursday October 25, 2012, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004. 

     

    The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comments on Bill 19-883, which proposes required minimum operating hours in the DC Public Library System of Monday – Thursdays 9:00am - 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00am - 5:30pm, and Sunday hours from 12 to 5:00pm, subject to inclusion of its fiscal effect in an approved budget and financial plan.  

     

    The Committee invites the public to testify. Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify should contact Tawanna Shuford at 727-8204 or tshuford@dccouncil.us, and furnish their name, address, telephone number, and organizational affiliation, if any, by 5 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2012. Witnesses should bring 15 copies of their testimony. Testimony may be limited to 3 minutes for individuals and 5 minutes for those representing organizations or groups.

     

    If you are unable to testify at the public hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made part of the official record.  Written statements should be submitted by 5 pm Monday October 29, 2012 to Ms. Shuford, Committee on Libraries, Parks, Recreation, and Planning, Room 117, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC, 20004, or via email at tshuford@dccouncil.us.
