    Councilmember Yvette M. Alexander, Chairperson of the Committee on Health, announces a public hearing on Bill 20-765, the “Student Certificate of Health Amendment Act of 2014”.  The hearing will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building.

                                                                                              

    The purpose of this bill is to amend the Student Health Care Act of 1985 and the Immunization of School Students Act of 1979 to establish a more efficient system for delivery of certificates of immunization, health, lead poisoning, and dental health, by requiring the Mayor to establish a method by which the certificates can be transmitted to the Mayor by the examining professionals.

     

    Those who wish to testify should contact Cory Davis, Legislative Assistant to the Committee on Health, at 202-724-8170 or via e-mail at cdavis@dccouncil.us, and provide their name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any) by close of business on Tuesday, October 15, 2014 Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony.  If submitted by the close of business on Tuesday, October 15, 2014, the testimony will be distributed to Councilmembers before the hearing.  Witnesses should limit their testimony to four minutes; less time will be allowed if there are a large number of witnesses.   

     

    For those unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.  Copies of written statements can be emailed to cdavis@dccouncil.us or to mailed to Cory Davis at the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Room 115, Washington, D.C., 20004.  The record will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014.
