Notice of Public Meeting

 

Draft District of Columbia Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan
and U.S. EPA’s Draft Chesapeake Bay TMDL

 

The District of Columbia has prepared a Draft Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) for the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). This Draft WIP is being made available to the public for comment concurrently with the U.S. EPA’s Draft Chesapeake Bay TMDL. The TMDL is being issued for nutrients and sediment for all impaired segments in the tidal portion of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

 

US EPA Region III, jointly with the District Department of the Environment will host a public meeting to review the EPA’s Draft Chesapeake Bay TMDL and the District’s Draft WIP on September 29^th at the National Zoo Visitor Center. The meeting will be held Wednesday, September 29^th from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the National Zoo Visitor Center Auditorium, 3001 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. The public may also participate in the meeting via a webinar. Information on how to join the webinar can be found at:

There is a 45-day public comment period that opens September 24^th. During the public comment period, written comments concerning the District’s WIP may be submitted by postal mail to: District Department of the Environment, Water Quality Division, 1200 First Street NE, 5th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20002, Attn: Chesapeake Bay WIP, or by email to:

Comments regarding the EPA’s Draft Chesapeake Bay TMDL may be submitted by e-mail to [e-mail] or by postal mail to the attention of Jennifer Sincock, Environmental Scientist, Water Protection Division, (3WP30), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region III, 1650 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103-2029.

Additionally, copies of the document will be on file for viewing on September 24th, at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, 901 G St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20001, during normal business hours. The U.S. EPA will issue its Draft Chesapeake Bay TMDL on September 24^th; it will be available for viewing at: www.epa.gov/chesapeakebaytmdl.
