COMMITTEE ON SMALL AND LOCAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Councilmember Vincent B. Orange, Sr. announces the scheduling of a public oversight roundtable of the Committee on Small and Local Business Development to review the progress of District government agencies and private contractors engaged in District-related economic development projects in meeting their certified small business enterprise (CSBE) and certified business enterprise (CBE) utilization requirements.
The public oversight roundtable is scheduled for Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The purpose of the public oversight roundtable to is to hear from the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), the Office of the District of Columbia Auditor, the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the Department of General Services, and the Office of Contract and Procurement on the performance of District agencies and public-private partnerships in meeting CSBE/CBE utilization requirements for fiscal year 2012. Although fourth quarter reports will not be available by the hearing date, the Committee is seeking projections from key agency heads on the performance of District government agencies in meeting their CSBE/CBE expenditure and contract requirements under D.C. Official Code § 2-218.41. The Committee will also seek projections on CSBE/CBE expenditures of public-private development construction projects for fiscal year 2012.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public oversight roundtable are asked to contact Mr. Stacey Lincoln of the Committee on Small and Local Business Development at (202) 727-6683 or by email at slincoln@dccouncil.us. Witnesses will be asked to furnish their names, addresses, telephone number, email address, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business, Friday, October 12, 2012. Each witness is requested to bring 20 copies of his/her written testimony. Representatives of organizations and government agencies will be limited to 5 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard. Individual witnesses will be limited to 3 minutes.
If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made part of the official record. The official record will remain open until the close of business of Thursday, November 1, 2012.
