Section 17-716. SERVICE OF PROCESS, NOTICE OR DEMAND ON ENTITY

 

716.1In addition to the requirements of Chapter 1 (General Provisions) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 29-101.01 et seq. (2011 Repl.)), a person seeking to serve process, notice, or demand on the Superintendent shall submit to the Superintendent:

 

(a) A completed service of process action on a form to be provided by the Department; or

 

(b) A declaration containing the plaintiff’s name and address, defendant’s domestic or foreign filing entity’s name and last known address, and grounds for serving the Superintendent. The declaration shall contain the plaintiff or authorized person’s name and signature.

 

716.2Service on the Superintendent shall only be made after the person seeking to serve the Superintendent has filed the notice or demand with a court of competent jurisdiction.
