Section 8-B1522. FACULTY DISCIPLINE AND TERMINATION PROCEDURES
-
1522.1The University shall have the same right to information, examination, representation, cross-examination, and time for preparation as the faculty member under §1521.
1522.2Preliminary, informal proceedings concerning the fitness of a faculty member may be followed. When a question arises which may lead to termination for cause, the dean shall discuss the matter with the faculty member informally.
1522.3If the matter cannot be settled by informal discussion under §1522.2, the matter may be informally and confidentially examined by a college committee established for the purpose of providing a resolution or determining whether formal proceedings should be instituted.
1522.4If the committee determines that formal proceedings should be instituted, or if the dean, in spite of a decision favorable to the faculty member by the committee, chooses to pursue the matter, formal proceedings shall be initiated by the Vice President for Academic Affairs upon recommendation of the dean.
1522.5The Vice President for Academic Affairs shall begin the formal proceedings by preparing a clear written statement of charges and informing the faculty member in writing of the charges and of the right to a hearing and other procedural guarantees.
1522.6When a faculty member is served with the statement of charges, he or she may request a hearing in writing within ten (10) working days after receipt of the charges.
